He recently got the Infosys award and has also been elected member of the National Academies of Sciences.
As far as I know there is complete silence from the Indian academics though some people have told me that a letter has been issued from the academics to treat him with dignity as he has contributed greatly to science. If it is so, then it is in keeping with the traditions of Indian academies.

So what else is new? Renowned scientist, global fame, innumerable academic honors, unchallenged administrative power - and he can't keep his hands to himself.
ReplyDeleteAlthough, I always thought that misogynistic perversion is not as rampant in American academic institutes as it is in India.
No matter which country it is, the underlying principle seems to be the same - he is such an eminent scientist who's done so much for humankind, and brought in so much research funding ... and so what if he gets a bit uppity with women sometimes.
I wouldn't be surprised if he winds up as the head of some prestigious institute in India. He is a son of our soil after all.

Well, we do like honor our scientists :). As an eminent scientists once said, before we throw stones at them, we should ask what have we contributed scientifically. So that kind covers up every thing. Carpets are very useful.
